As you can probably tell by looking through the last couple pages of my tumblr, I posted little to nothing last semester. I have good reasons for my absence, though!
1. My boyfriend was living at home three hours away while he desperately looked for a job. He did not return to Austin until late mid-November.
2. I took a true 18 hours this semester (6 classes), and that coupled with every evening being taken up by sorority meetings, theatre meetings, and late night discussions, I had very little time at night to just relax and cruise the internet.
3. I was…lonely this semester. With my boyfriend being gone and living on my own for the first time, I tried to keep myself busy. That meant I went home almost every single weekend, and tried to have lots of family time. Although tumblr can be a nice reprieve from stress, it also begs for an outpouring of emotions, and I wasn’t ready to do that to myself on the internet.
With that being said, it’s a new semester. Tyree is back in Austin, I am taking 15 hours instead of 18 (it’s a big difference, trust me), and I am still visiting family often and attending sorority/theatre events to keep me company (while Tyree has work) and grounded. 2012 is a big year for me: I’m graduating a semester early in December! Although I am going to be busy this year finishing school, finding internships/jobs, etc., I want to still stay connected to Tumblr.
Even though I barely posted on Tumblr last semester, that didn’t mean I didn’t go through the pages on my dashboard: I did! I really did miss you all.
I hope nobody has forgotten about me and will welcome my return with happiness. Urka is back!

Just a Bunch of Hocus Pocus by MirrorCradle
Happy Halloweekend everyone!
ABC Family is showing Hocus Pocus right now…so jealous of everyone that gets that channel (thanks a lot, Time Warner).

I love October.
Cooler weather, Halloween, CANDY CORN, and the fact that after October comes November and Thanksgiving, and then December and Christmas :).

Google Doodle of the Day: Google and The Jim Henson Company joined forces to create a special doodle honoring what would have been Henson’s 75th birthday. (Link to Google.)
The Easter Egg-filled interactive doodle allows users to “puppeteer” six original characters created specially for the occasion by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.
Meanwhile, on the official Google blog, Henson’s son Brian remembers his dad.
For my love of Jim Henson, the Muppets, and everything puppeteering.
Well-Deserved Recognition of the Day: Neil Patrick Harris need wait no longer to be recognized as an entertainment industry legend: The How I Met Your Mother star was inducted today into the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
His star was appropriately placed outside an iconic Hollywood dive bar. “As much of an honor as this is, unfortunately, it won’t be the first time I’ve been plastered on the sidewalk in front of the Frolic Room,” quipped a suited-up NPH.
His partner David Burtka was on hand to dole out a post-ceremony hug.
Aww :) So much love for NPH; I’m glad he was finally honored for all of his work. Also, him and David are such a beautiful couple.
